Studio Minis

It’s my FAVORITE time of year!  It’s time for the annual Christmas mini sessions in the studio.  I have so many new set designed and ready for you all and I am so excited to share them.

Below, you’ll find an example of the set along with the dates that particular set will be offered.  As with any session, if you don’t see a date that works for you, please let me know and I will create a custom date for you.  Chances are, you aren’t the only one with a scheduling conflict, so your custom date will likely benefit several other families as well.

All of the mini sessions include 5 digital images of your choice. Looking for more than just the 5 images? No problem! Additional images are available to purchase at the time of booking (for a discounted rate) or after your session once you’ve seen your gallery.

Story Time with Santa

Christmas Mini Session Details

What to Expect

Unless you’ve been to my studio before, it can be hard to know what to expect when you get here. Let me tell you all about it.

Most kids take a few minutes to get used to the studio. There’s a lot to look at and giving them a few minutes to warm up is totally fine. I won’t rush you. In fact, I’d rather you spend half of your session time getting comfortable with the studio than try to rush your little one into pictures. You’ll get so many more GOOD photos if we just take the time your child needs. I promise, you won’t be missing out on any good shots. You’ll actually get more!

While your child is warming up to his or her new surroundings, I’ll be busy playing with toys and talking to Mom and Dad. This typically gets your child interested in the set pieces and helps them warm up to me even more. I love to play peek-a-boo and being a little silly helps too.

Once your child is comfortable with me and the studio, we just play. I’m looking for those genuine smiles and true joy that just won’t happen if I ask them to smile. So we have fun and get a little silly. And that’s the magic formula…patience and silliness.

FAQs

No. Each backdrop has a unique set of corresponding props and various furniture items and they take time to set up. During the holidays, only one set will be assembled at a time in the studio.

If you do want two separate backdrops, there’s a session for that! The “Twinkle” session in my “Studio Sessions” allows for 2 backdrops and the “Guppy” session allows for 3 different backdrops. Check them out on the pricing page.

Yes! I love it when people bring their dogs to the studio. I do have dogs of my own, so your pup may need to smell around a bit before getting their photo taken.

Yes! As long as everyone fits in the set, I’d love to get you all in there. Just know that the more people there are, the less time we have for individual photos. With less time, we get fewer smiles, so you might not get the shots you’re hoping for.

Some sets, like the Christmas Cuddles, are limited on space due to larger props (like a bed), so be sure to take that into account when deciding how many family members to bring.

About a week. I know everyone is eager to get those Christmas cards out, so I work really hard to get your photos to you within a week. Every now and then, there are extenuating circumstances, but that’s pretty rare. Just know that I’m working on getting you your photos as soon as I possibly can.

Not every child is smiling when they’re happy and that’s totally fine. My job is to capture your child’s unique personality. I do everything I can to get kiddos playing and happy for the photos. Parents sometime have some tricks too. If on picture day, your child doesn’t feel like smiling, then that’s what their personality was like that day and that’s what I capture. Either way, you’ll still get photos you love. With over 10 years of taking photos of kids and being a preschool teacher, I can almost always get at least a happy glance.

How Christmas Mini Sessions Work

In case you aren’t familiar with how my studio mini sessions work, let me explain.  I am obsessed with Christmas mini sessions and getting amazing photos of your adorable children.  Every year, I literally think about my Christmas mini sessions all year and I look forward to designing each and every one of them.  I guarantee you, I am already thinking about next year and what I want to offer! 

Christmas mini session often include an assortment of backgrounds, but a few are fairly consistent.  I always get a few visits from Santa and I almost always have a fun kitchen where you and your kids can “bake” cookies for Santa.   Every weekend from mid-November through mid-December, I have a few sets available for photos.  You’ll simply choose the theme you like the most (or a few of them if you can’t decide), book your date and time, and let me take care of the rest!  I’m an expert at getting those adorable photos, even when you don’t think I’m getting any good ones (there are always a few great ones!).
